This site at the centre of Béziers was once the site of the ancient forum where municipal business was conducted. When it came to the construction of the present town hall it was decided by the local authorities that it would be fitting to have this beautiful purpose built municipal centre on the same site, carrying on a long and grand tradition in the area. The current building was designed and built in 1729 and forms one of the centrepieces of an attractive city centre.
