Béziers Arena was first opened in 1897 and immediately became a hit with local people. Modelled on a Roman amphitheatre, the completely uncovered circular structure was designed to host bullfighting events, but also hosts opera and music events in more modern times. It is considered to be in the top seven bullfighting venues in France and is well worth a visit to admire the architecture and learn more about the history of the building, even if you have an objection to watching a bullfight itself, which still take place regularly.
