This ancient piece of architecture was built in order to house an old relic that was brought to Paris from Spain in 542 AD. There were many attempts to completely destroy the church during the Middle Ages by the Normans, but a part of the church has always remained. A great deal of refurbishment work was done in and around the church in the late 20th Century, making for one of the finest ancient monuments in the city.
