Notre Dame de Paris is the largest cathedral in the French capital, translated into English as Our Lady of Paris; the building is recognised as being one of the most impressive Gothic ecclesiastical structures in the world. The church is situated on the eastern half of the Ile de la Cite in the River Seine, at the very heart of the oldest part of Paris. Although it is one of the most visited tourist attractions in France, it is still a fully working Roman Catholic place of worship.
