This bridge is one of the finest in Paris, named after the Russian emperor who laid the fist stone. It was built to celebrate the Universal Exhibition in 1900, where millions from around the world gathered in Paris to see a collection of art and industry from across the globe. The bridge is one of the finest examples of art-nouveau on the banks of the Seine. On the four corners of the bridge are four statues representing, art, science, commerce and industry.
