Place de la Concorde is without doubt one of the most famous squares in Paris, and in fact the whole of France. The area has a long and interesting history, related to the royals, revolution and the beginnings of the French Republic. The square was the site of the guillotine that executed amongst other Louis VI, Mary Antoinette and Robespierre during the bloody French Revolution. Today the area is a popular meeting place and the centre of a busy road intersection.
