Matisse is recognised as being one of the greatest painters of the 20th Century. He lived in the Cimiez area of Nice, high on the hill top overlooking the city, from 1917 until he died in 1954. The museum is housed in the fine looking red house that Matisse lived in, and holds a vast collection of his works, artefacts relating to him and has an in-depth history of his life for visitors to enjoy following.
