Cesar is one of the most famous sculptors and artists to have lived in the city and to have practiced in this region. His work is well regarded all over the world and there are a few examples of it in public places dotted around Marseille. This beautiful gilded bronze sculpture was designed and created in 1988 and stands as one of the most interesting pieces of public art in any area of the city. It can easily be seen if you walk along the Avenue de Hamburg.
