This long coastal road is one of the most famous thoroughfares in the city of Marseille, although it isn’t really in the city. It leads out of the main settlement and follows the coast towards the chalet districts and some of the finest beaches. It was constructed over a ten year period in the mid 19th Century and is one of the best places to enjoy views of the magnificent Mediterranean coast and stop for a breathtaking picnic along the way.
