This large monument stands in the shadow of the citadel at the end of the major thoroughfare, Boulevard Wilson. The statue is extremely poignant as so many men and women have been lost through fighting over this town and the surrounding areas of Corsica in the many centuries that people have lived there. Particularly this fine statue is standing in memory of the brave people who died in the two world wars, defending the basic rights of freedom and liberty in the western world.
