Many consider this to be one of the most beautiful and poignant memorials to the fallen in the whole of France. A wonderful piece of architecture, the memorial has a list of over three thousand names inscribed on it, facing the sea close to one of the most popular beach areas, in the affluent and beautiful city of Nice. At the centre of the monument is a tiny urn that holds the military number of every serviceman remembered who’s died at war.
