It is impossible to walk through the oldest parts of Marseille without being struck by the historic buildings and the fascinating architecture that confronts you on every street corner. This house is one of the finest examples of an ancient dwelling that remains in the city. Built in the 1570s as the home for a wealthy merchant, the building is instantly recognisable because of the diamond shaped studs that adorn the entire central facade. Within the house is recognised for having a brilliantly crafted 16th Century staircase.
