Built in 1656, Marseille City Hall is one of the best examples in this area of southern France of civil architecture. Positioned on the edge of the old port, the building overlooks the lifeblood of the city as the ships come and go, carrying cargos from far off lands. The town council has been meeting at this building since the Middle Ages and still today it is the administrative hub of the city. It is a must-see for any fan of beautiful regional architecture.
