Ernesto Cernuschi was a wealthy banker and politician from Milan who lived during the 19th Century. He was a great art lover and collected a fantastic body of work throughout his life. A man who enjoyed traveling, Cernuschi, by the time of his death had an eclectic mixture of paintings, sculptures and artefacts from across the world. He left the entire collection to the people of France, forming the foundations for this exceptional museum.
