The first church to be built on this site was constructed around 475AD, it was later dedicated to Saint Denis, who in legend carried his own head to his burial site after being beheaded. The first stone was laid for this magnificent basilica in the 12th Century and the brilliant ecclesiastical masterpiece has grown since that time. A beautiful piece of architecture, the church is a popular place of worship in this area of the city.
