Built over a period of about five years beginning in 1696, this fine cathedral is one of the most impressive religious buildings in the town. It was commissioned during the reign of King Louis XIV and shows all of the signs of a Classical style building, awash with flamboyant gilding and interesting stonework. The cathedral is the central place of worship in the community and has been noted for its impressive array of stained glass windows which are best viewed from inside.
