This public square is the very centre of community life in the town and has for many generations been a traditional place of meeting and trading for the local people and visitors to the area. The square is surrounded by some of the best examples of traditional 17th Century houses of the area and is split up by a grid of pedestrianised walkways. It is a great place to head for when you first arrive in the town, sit back relax and have a coffee or a glass of wine, get your bearings and get a feel for the way that people live here.
