The River Tarn flows past the town and is one of the most important geological features in the area, carving the valley and making the place inhabitable. There are several great walks that are popular to take along the river, taking in some breathtaking views of the countryside and the man made structures that are beautifully framed at the heart of the community. A wealth of animals and plants thrive in the river and it is a good place for naturalists to visit.
