This quite beautiful building was constructed in the 18th Century, under the reign of Louis XVI, and is quite distinctive in the style of that era. The great facility was converted into an opera house in the early 1800s. It was extremely badly damaged by a large fire in 1919, but was fully restored to its former glory by a group of talented architects. The opera house is one of the premier cultural facilities in the city and hosts regular performances.
