Situated on a hill at the edge of the central Paris suburbs, Montmartre has retained much of its village atmosphere, from the days when it wasn’t connected so closely with the city. The area has a rich and varied history that has attracted artists, musicians, poets and writers to the village for centuries. This small museum charts the history of the area and the famous people that have lived within it. There is a good collection of art and other artefacts within.
