The Governors Palace was first constructed in the 13th Century and shows signs f the traditional designs and building methods that were being employed at that time. It was added to and enlarged in the 16th Century by the Genoese who preferred a grander residence for their dignitaries. The building is still working and has an association with the military, being a mess hall and barracks for officers of the Foreign Legion.
