Undoubtedly, this magnificent church is one of the highlights of any visit to the medieval area of Carcassonne. It is thought that there has been a church on this site since the 6th Century. The current church, which towers above the surrounding buildings, was constructed between the 11th Century and the 13th Century. The building is one of the finest examples of its kind remaining in southern France, and is just as beautiful and gothic in its inspiration internally as externally.
