The original theatre was built on this site in 1782 as a place for the comic performances of the city to take place. Through the years there have been several constructions on the site after a fire and refurbishments. The result is one of the best loved theatres in the capital, fusing the great traditions of French theatre both modern and historic. There are many good shows throughout the year at the building, ranging from Molliere to emerging writers works.
