The Skate Park is relatively modern addition to the city and was built after a great deal of pressure from young people and local residents. Skate boarding and roller skating have both been popular sorts in the area for a long time and before the park was built young people tended to do it in the streets and annoy locals. Now this park allows tricks, exhibitions and competitions to be performed in the safety of a purpose built arena.
