The Champollion Museum is situated just off a small square that is dedicated to the well known explorer and Egyptologist. Jean-Francois Champollion gained extreme note in academic circles after becoming the first person to decode and crack the hieroglyphics on the side of the tombs of the great Egyptian pharaohs. This interesting little museum is dedicated to his life and works and features a great many of his personal belongings and artefacts.
